it does not seem like a surround system, because a surround system has five speakers.it is most likely a sub woofer which only creates bass sounds. it is still possible that this is an old style surround system with a center, left, right speakers. you have to test it and see if you have full sound coming out of it. the black wire has two copper conductors, when you split the conductors you will see one is round and one has a line/groove in it. the round is plus and the lined one is minus. also these speaker needs an amplifier.
