I want to buy an Iphone from ATT. I already have an unlimited messaging plan for 20 extra a month with my current phone, but to buy an Iphone, i'd have to pay an additional 25 dollars a month for a data plan that doesn't even include messaging. But they have an unlimited data+messaging plan for $30.































My question is this; if I bought and Iphone outright from someone (friend, ebay, craigslist), would I still have to purchase that $25 data plan? Or could I get by with purchasing the $30 combined unlimited data/messaging plan? Because I cant tell if this is just some BS way ATT can get money or if this is the only way you can do it AND it is BS at the same time. Thanks!















Also, what if I just want to use it as a texting phone and not for the internet? Do I still have to pay that way?

No no if you are going to buy an iPhone off of someplace like eBay or craigslist you won't be asked to get a data plan. Unless, of course, you're buying it off someone working for ATT itself.
