Panasonic Firmware? Are there third party batteries I can use?

I think that is ridiculous. I'm not too happy that Panasonic is doing this.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20 or Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3?

Should I get the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3? Reasons why one is better than the other. The Sony is $40 cheaper than the Panasonic on Amazon and the Sony seems to have gotten better reviews. But, what's your opinion? Have you had experience with either camera? And if so, do you like them? Why do you like them? Who don't you like them? Any input would be most appreciated!

I need a new camera and I think I have it narrowed down to these two. They are both 12 MP cameras and have very similar specs all across the board. the online ratings are equal as well and they are very similar in price. I need help deciding. Has anybody used/owned one or both that could help me? thanks

Which High Def Camcorder should I get? Canon Vixia HFS10 or Panasonic HDC-TM300?

Hey all

Im kinda torn between two camcorders

The Panasonic HDC-TM300 (best price about £720) and Canon HFS10 - (best price about £820)

Both have fantastic specs with manual focus rings but now inm kinda torn because the Panna has a fantastic Time lapse feature but no high speed recording for slow mo. The Canon does slow mo up to 60fps - from what i understand and the low light performance is slightly better.

I want to film mainly action type footage where in cases the slow motion may be handy. On the otherhand i have always done slow motion using Sony Vegas. As the Canon only goes to 60fps there may not be that much gained.

OR a Sony Cybershot DSC-H20.? I am wanting a more powerful zoom in a fairly compact camera, as well as video recording. These two cameras have all of that, ranging from 10 - 12x zooms, and reportedly good video recording for these types of cameras. Does anyone have experience with either, or have done research on these types? I read the reviews on the internet, and which camera is best seems to vary with the reviewer.

Oh my gosh...checked on the HX1 mentioned in Crim Liar's answer, and it looks awesome. I think I could sacrifice the put it in your pocket ability in order to get these fantastic features. Looks like the price, though higher, would be well worth paying. We'll see what the rest of you might suggest....any other thoughts/experience on this particular model?
