The HTC Touch is a relatively good phone. It is very compact, but this has its shortfalls in my opinion. The Touch is too touch-dependent, in my opinion. There are few buttons, and the designers made the phone so you really have to use your finger or stylus if you want to do practically anything. This might seem a bit odd of me to say, considering it is a touch phone, but I really like a phone that combines touchscreen with functional buttons for a more functional and easier to use phone. What are your expectations out of a phone? Do you want to type a lot of stuff into it, send a lot of text messages, etc? This might get tiring if you have to spell everything out on the tiny on-screen keyboard, which you usually must use a stylus. I recommend my phone, the HTC 8925/HTC Tilt (AT&T). It features a touchscreen and the the phone slides open with a full QWERTY keyboard beneath. Once you slide it open, you can also tilt the screen up at an angle, forming kind of a mini-laptop. The only problem is that I don't think Alltel supports this phone, however, this should not be a problem if you can find the phone unlocked (modded so that it is universally usable with any network, just slide your SIM card in and it works). Try going to YouTube and typing in HTC Tilt reviews and HTC Touch reviews and watch different videos with the phones in them and consider what you want. If you come to like the 8925, try shopping around E-Bay for an unlocked version. You shouldn't have to pay more than $500, probably more likely around $400.
