trying to get messenger to work on my htc s710?

i bought myself a htc s710 smartphone and iv tried to get onto windows messenger but it doesn't give me the option to enter my hotmail address just says sign in which when i click says it can't connect. any help?yeah i've given up on it now and i'm getting a refund so cuz ur the only one who answered, ur the best answer^_^
