HTC Shadow showing I have texts, but wont let me read?

My Tmobile HTC shadow hasn't really given me trouble until tonight. It says I have 6 unread messages in my inbox, but when i look there are none. It started going really slow and I tried to delete texts but it justs freezes up. I really needed to read what the texts were, if there are even any. Any help?I've cut it off like 10x and taken the battery out too
