Does the HTC Hero allow users to run applications that are not signed
with a security certificate? If I try to install and run a Java application on the HTC Hero, and said application does not have a security certificate (such as homebrew applications), will the phone allow me to use the application? In the past, I had tried to download and install IRC Clients on a Nokia phone with ATT, and when it didn't work, I switched to Sprint and BlackBerry, which does allow users to run unsigned applications. I'm thinking of upgrading to the HTC Hero to utilise the Google Operating System, but if it has this limitation, I'll stick with my BlackBerry.
