Default Help Ubuntu Dell laptop 600m and kyocera 680 air card?

Ok, my wireless is working but I can't get the air card to connect. I enter all my settings for my air card into Gnomeppp but it says can't find modem. Under hardware testing it finds Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-BO 100BASE-TX (rev 02) and the network Connection. Also how do you get the cool effects to work? Like the compiz fusion icon, settings manager. I can check the ones I want but how do you apply them. I don't see a apply button. I'm very knew to this. My laptop had XP and if I can get everything to work I might go to it on my desktop which has Vista. But that would be hard, theres more on that to get working. Like ati wonder tuner (external). Thanks,I'm on msn msg Tiffany_Lea@hotmail.com

I also have a 600m and I have the compiz effects working just fine... but I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) and not the current version 8.04 (Hardy). Ubuntu changed the ATI video drivers between the two versions, and the new version has the 600m's video card blacklisted, so 3D acceleration is not available and compiz won't work in Hardy. If you are using 8.04 you may find that 7.10 works better for you; there are plenty of places you can find it for download or torrent, just google it. You may also want to install compizconfig-settings-manager if you haven't already.See my blog on the topic: http://www.dwasifar.com/2008/04/i-should-know-better-by-now.html(Sorry, can't help you with the air card.)Edit: You don't need beryl. Beryl has been merged back into compiz fusion.
