Let me guess you have a vx5200 its a sliver phone with a blue inlay. If so that means you have something in your charging port on the right hand side causing the last two pins to make a connection. Those two pins are for a car kit that older cars had that you can plug your phone into. You can go to radio shack and buy a can of electronic cleaner to clean it out, or you can use a quick drying alcohol with a thin cloth that will not fall apart. Last option go talk to a tech at your local corporate Verizon store they usually have away to clean it out.
