It depends on how long you have had it. The same thing happened to an old phone I had. I think this could also happen if you overcharge the battery. If you charge it when you sleep and you can not unplug it when it is done, It damages the battery. If it doens't stop soon, you should bring it to a verizon wireless storeHope I could Help
