Default High ALP and High White Blood Count came back on my 4 yrs olds blood work....

...What does this mean? My daughter had some blood work done and the test showed High functioning liver, high liver enzymes and high white blood count. My doctor asked, me if my daughter was sick when she had the blood test done. I know for sure that she was not. He said, he would retest her again in a YEAR! I dont understand why he wants to wait a whole year. She is tires out very easily, has lots of accidents, always has to pee, (she literally pees atleast 4'x an hour, most days) If she drinks juice it is worse. She is always saying her stomach hurts. Sometimes the pain is right abover her belly button other times it is right below her belly button. She has good days and bad days... Meaning... somedays she will just say she has a little pain and than it goes away, other days she says it hurts more. She will hardly ever eat for me. She will say she is hungry, but when I make her something to eat, its like she loses her appetite and she only eats 3 or 4 bites. She has been potty trained since she was 2. She never had had the friquent peeing issue til about 6 months ago and seems to be getting worse. She was checked for diabetes and the doctor said, her test didnt show that she had that. She sometimes will bring things back up in her mouth that she has ate or drank earlier in the day. Not often just sometimes. She mentioned the other day that her lower back was hurting her as well, that was the first that she said that. I am concerned about her. And I feel the test should be repeated again. What do you think it could be? What could I suggest to the doctor to check for? What more can I do? Please help! I dont know what to do, what to think of the results. I mean is it normal to have high liver functioning/ liver emzymes and also high white blood count? To me that sounds like there is something going on. I dont know though, I am not a doctor. Something seems to be going on with her and I dont want it to be over looked and ended up being something worse in the long run or effect her badly in the long run if its not taken care of right away! Could it be some kind of lukemia? liver diease? liver cancer? kidney issue? gal bladder? Someone please help me figure out some more info on the results of her test and what I should do next! Thank you inadvance!

It honestly depends on how high the ALP and white blood cell count is. A higher white blood cell count could indicate infection but someone people have a naturally higher white blood cell count.

An elevated ALP, again depending on how high it is, can be indicative of numerous things. However, it can also just be how she is. That is probably why your doctor wants to re-test her in a year because each human body is different and an elevated ALP may just be how your daughter's body is.

Does her doctor know about her frequent urination? Repeating the test really won't tell them anything but it would be good to double check.

I don't think it is anything to be greatly concerned about. Keep an eye out for any discoloration of the urine and if she reports any burning or pain while urinating. If her lower back pain persists and it is causing her noticeable discomfort, then I would take her back to the doctor.

There is no need to go into the possibilities of what can go wrong because it would just make you worry. It is often nothing very dire but being alert and prepared make all the difference.

Make sure that your doctor has a complete list of symptoms, meaning anything that is causing her discomfort or seems unusual for your daughter. If you think your doctor is not taking you seriously, you can always go to a new one. A second opinion is always an option.

There seem to be some contradictions in your statement. For instance, when your MD asked if she was sick at the time when the test was taken you said no; but then you go on to describe a lot of symptoms she's having (abdominal pain, peeing a lot, tired all the time...)

As for what the test means, it depends a bit on how high the levels were... but if she has abdominal pain and elevated liver enzymes and white blood cell count, she probably deserves a closer evaluation. Sometimes that pattern occurs for no reason, but it also occurs if one's bile ducts are partially blocked by a stone, overgrowth of bile duct tissue, or other process. A year does sound like a long time
