It is fairly common for warm winds to form when air descends from mountain heights. The pressure increase causes warming. It is called adiabatic heating. There are several places in the world where such winds are so common they have been given names (like the Chinook winds of western Canada).
PV=nRT so if you increase P (pressure, which is what happens when air descends from the mountains), T (temperature) also rises. You might experience this when inflating a bicycle tire, for example, or recognize the inverse effect, cooling on pressure release.
