How can I get my IM to work on my Motorola SLVR with AT&T?

I have a Motorola SLVR with service from AT&T (formerly Cingular) and I have unlimited SMS, but I can't seem to get the IM to work. When I try to sign in, it says "Operation Failed: Connecting." I was thinking I might need to change the ISP settings, but I don't know, any help is appreciated.I don't believe I have internet service... But I haven't modified the phone, so I think it's locked.Oh, I thought IM services were offered over SMS.

How long has this been happening? Does mms work? Can you connect to the internet? Try power cycling the phone, taking the battery off. Is it an unlocked phone? Internet settings on an unlocked phone are wrong for the carrier your trying to use so that could have something to do with it. If that doesn't help call the 1 800 number tomorrow and have them troubleshoot the phone. Theres been a lot of people lately with that trouble and customer service can normally fix it quickly. If internet is blocked on the phone IM won't work....but it can be fixed easily if its not. Nope totally not at all sms.
