Are both speakers supposed to work on the helio ocean?

I just received a helio ocean, and I'm wondering about 2 things, one is when i play music only one of the speakers appears to be playing. There are a total of 4 speaker holes in the back(2 sets of 2). Sound comes out of one of the sets but not the other. Also when i plug the sync cable in it seems very loose and doesn't lock into place. Are these things normal?
