You will be able to do this, but it will take a call to Tracfone to work out the details. Depending on what type of phone you have, what type of phone your sister is giving you, and where you live, it could be very easy, or it could take a few weeks to get it right. The best way to figure it out is to call Tracfone at 1-800-867-7183 and tell them about your problem. They can tell you what you need to do.Another thing you might want to consider is calling Tracfone telling them about your problem, without mentioning that you have another phone you'd like to transfer to. It may be that your phone is the wrong type - GSM vs. CDMA. If you have a GSM phone, but the GSM coverage in your area is spotty, that could explain the problem. In that case, Tracfone will probably offer to send you a phone for free to replace the one you currently have with one that is the right type for your area. You can also do transfer to a phone by ordering a new phone from the Tracfone website. They currently have some great package deals where you can get airtime cards plus phones for really nice prices, making the phones essentially free (you were going to have to buy airtime anyway, right?). Unfortunately, the phones in the package aren't the trendiest phones (not something that bothers me, but it might bother some to not have a camera/mp3 ringtones/web browser or whatever). Anyway, if you do get new a new phone, whether in a package deal or somewhere else, you could do everything necessary to transfer your number online, without ever having to talk to customer service. You would first place your order with Tracfone, then add your current phone to an account on tracfone.com. Next, when your new phone arrives, go to tracfone.com, select "activate/reactivate," then chose "existing customer" site........ then choose "Activate my TracFone with a number transferred from one of my other TracFones" From there, you should be able to figure it out. Again, this last option works only if you have a brand new unactivated phone that you are transferring to.If you are looking at buying online, check out my blog, which I link to below. I discuss the newest tracfone deals there and explain how to find the best deals.I've been aTracfone user for over 5 years, and currently maintain service on 7 different phones for friends and relatives. I discuss Tracfone-related issues on my blog (
