i have the tone i wantto set for my text alert. but when i go to my settings and try to ass it it does not appear! i have no problem setting this tone for a ringtone i just cant set it for a text alert! no one has any answers this is very frustrating this phone has so many capablities but not this simple one? i have played around trying everything for a good 2 hours and nothing works. so if someone could tell me a very simple way to get a text alert that would be great! (no hacks)

you are not able to set any ringtones as alert tones. there are way's to hack the phone, but as u said, u dont want any hacks. the phone is just provisioned that way thru windows mobile.
