Default What Mods/Repairs can I do to my d16 vtech engine without removing it to make

it like new again? My d16 v-tech has about 296k's on it ... I want to make it like it was new again, or at least close too it . Only thing is, I dont know much about engines and the mechanical aspect of cars, so I wanted to know mods or repairs I can make without removing my engine for the car. Also when I am driving the engine makes like a humming grinding noise if you will? ...Can anyone help me with my questions, as It will be greatly appreciated.God Bless

there is not really a whole lot you can do, most of the wear on a high mileage engine is valve guides, and piston rings, and to some extent bearings, do you have an oil pressure gauge on this car?? this will give you a good indication of the condition of the bearings. i would certainly find out what that grinding noise is, it could be critical. there are several d16 vtecs available on ebay in good condition with low miles, taking it to a shop for a motor swap will be cheaper and more effective than trying to freshen up a 300K motor, but i wouldn't do either if it is still running ok, you may want to start adding a can of "engine restore"(silver can with black red and blue stripe on it) at each oil change, that stuff is great, if you can give me more information on the humming grinding noise, i will try and help you narrow it down if you like.what is the year of the car, auto or manual, does the noise only occur when you are moving, or in neutral, in only one gear etc...
