no you can edit it on the palm if you have the right software like docs to go by dataviz which isnt included on the palm z22 software essentials CD like it is on most other palm handhelds because the z22 isnt made for business users and students like myself who need word document editing software. by the way the new documents to go premium version 10 is available for download for $50 USD on the palm store website and it is compatible with the z22.

You could edit it on the Palm. The Zire 22 doesn't come with it. IIRC, it's an extra $30 purchase. If you get a Tungsten E or Tungsten E2, those handhelds would cost $150 to $250, but comes with Documents To Go standard edition which does Word and Excel files. You can edit, create, and sync on from your handheld. Those handhelds also have 4x the resolution (320x320 instead of just 160x160), so it'll work better there. However, keep in mind you'll wanna leave major edits and whole articles for a desktop or laptop. Office files on a Palm are better suited for reviewing, reading, or minor edits. A full size or near full size keyboard makes large amounts of word/data entry better, but still no substitute for an actual desktop version of it IMHO.
