Default My stepdad gets this large blister on the outer palms of both hands. Any ideas?

He says that this blister raises up anywhere from every couple weeks to every few months. A large blister will raise on the outer palm of one hand, and it will eventually break open. After draining, the skin around it will peel and then it will be gone. Then it will move to the other hand. It never affects both hands at the same time. I'm a nursing student, and after searching through all my textbooks and all over the web, the closest thing I've found to it is Dyshidrotic Eczema, but this condition says you will have tiny blisters. These are about an inch or an inch and a half in circumference. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I highly recommend you consult a doctor, a skin doctor I recommend. Ordinary research just wont do, but if you are patient and wait for the results, observe if it gets worse or it starts to turn to normal.

hm.. i would go see a doctor. i have blister things on my hands too, but they're just like.. air pocket blisters. there's nothing in them, they don't hurt, and i don't know why they're there. i get them every now and then. maybe your step dad's job is affecting his hands? i'm not sure. i don't even know if he has a job. :P

but i really hope that problem stops soon.

good luck to him.

he needs to quit masterbating without any lube. lube will make things so much smoother. he's obviously switch hitting when the blister's start to come up. if your mom was giving it to him right. it would make it all better.

Does your stepdad work with any caustic agents (e.g., cleaners especially any with lye, or even TSP [used for cleaning walls and parts])? Because of the length of time between episodes it appears more related to something he has done in that time. That it also only involves the top most layer or skin (like a heat blister), really sounds like it.

If he wears wool gloves during winter and they get too damp, a blister can form as well (this is common with wool socks).

But the best judge of this is with a MD, not online answers.

That is one of the symptoms of systemic std's. Gonnarhea, herpes, syphillis, all can cause these symptoms if it goes untreated. He needs to go to the Doctor and get a culture done on the sores.
