Sundays do not could as days of Lent, every Sunday is a feast day.
Easter Sunday (in the west anyway, the eastern church uses a different calendar) is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring (vernal) equinox. Lent is forty days, but Sundays do not count. Count backwards and you get to Ash Wednesday. Because Easter is always on a Sunday, Lent always begins on a Wednesday. The Ascension is forty days after Easter and always on a Thursday, if I remember correctly. Pentecost is ten days after the Ascension and always on a Sunday.
