While the two phones are designed by the same company and you will find many similarities in their designs, the two devices are very distinct.
The Palm Centro is a Palm OS (Garnet) Operating-system based phone.
The Palm PRO is a Windows Mobile OS Operating-system based phone.
This is, in a crude manner, the equivalent of comparing Mac operating systems (OSX) and Windows operating systems (Windows XP/Vista)
The good news is that either way you look, you will be able to play Sudoku and use a picture for your home screen (both operating systems allow these features). Both Palm phones will have similar phone middleware, such as Palm's great threaded-text messaging and ignore-call-with-sms.
The bad news is that the Palm PRO will likely require you to purchase Sudoku for additional money after you've already purchased the phone.
In overall hardware quality, the Palm PRO is a much more advanced phone. It is slightly larger than the Centro, but has a much more usable keyboard (I found the Centro's keyboard to be a little too small and cramped for easy texting/typing). The Palm PRO also sports a 3.5mm audio adapter, which means you'll be able to plug-in your favorite headset to listen to music/watch movies on the device. You'll have access to much more powerful programs and software/games on the PRO, as Windows Mobile is one of the most popular operating systems for mobile phones and the Palm Garnet OS has been discontinued.
Hope this information helped.
Best of luck!
