Yes they can tattoo your palm. Yes it will hurt - a lot! Yes it will fade; a friend of mine got both palms tattooed at the same time and they only lasted a few weeks before it was noticeably faded. And no, if you take care of your tattoo it will not become infected.

You would be hard pressed to find a reputable and licensed tattooist, who would agree to doing palms/hands, soles of the feet, and face (unless you were a serious 'collector').

This is because of several reasons, but mainly, your tattoo will not hold up well at all over time, and getting the tattoo and the healing of the tattoo would be problematic, because of the different type of skin, the wrinkles all over the area (palms and soles), and the stretching, pulling, twisting of the skin, in a constant manner, with normal everyday (every moment) use.

To successfully heal this area, would require elevation, no movement, incredible current aftercare methods, and vigilant attention. Then the tattoo would still end up becoming misshapen and blurry in a short amount of time.

As far as becoming infected, .. without extreme aftercare round the clock until it healed, .. yes, it could.

If I could give Sand 10 thumbs up I would.

Your palms are such a high-contact area that it would be difficult to heal and almost impossible to 'keep' - that is, they would need a ton of touch-ups in order to stand any chance of lasting.

Honestly I wouldn't bother. It would be so much more hassle and expense than it is worth.

I've got one on mine. Yep, they hurt a good bit. Infected? No more so than any other. Now, here's the info you need, about palm tattoos. Number one, a lot of artists will flat out refuse to do 'em. The reason? The palms are tough and calloused. You have to go through the callous, to get to the skin beneath. Then you have to go around 1/32 of an inch past that, into the skin. You have to really hammer it in. Then you have to let it heal, to see how much it took. Usually, not a whole lot on the first sitting. Then, you have to go over where it didn't take again... each time letting it heal for two weeks in between. And it really hurts, cause the palms have lots of nerve endings. You just gotta suck it up. And, depending on whose doing the work, and their experience with palms, you'll have a good tattoo, when it's all done. I've got a dollar sign on mine. In black and green. Which is fitting, cause I sure paid a lot in time, effort and pain to put it there. It's generally not a great idea to tattoo the palm. But if you do, be ready, cause it's a lotta lotta. Take care.
