Garnet or Opal?

Which gemstone do you like more, opals or garnets? I personally prefer garnets because of that intense red color that they usually have.What about you?Thanks for the answers

Opals. Way more interesting to look at.But.... According to my Grandma, it is bad luck to give opals as a gift. May just be an old Aussie wives tale, but I'm not willing to risk it.
