It is hard to say for sure without a photo. It sounds kind of like a Green Tree Snake...I know Tiger snakes can be greenish with a yellow belly, but so can many other species. Olive pythons are that color, but the underside is usually white or cream color. Here are some places you could contact for more information:Australian Herpetological Society - PO Box R79, Royal Exchange, Sydney 1225Reptile Keepers Association of NSW - PO Box 227 Gosford 2250Central Coast Reptile and Frog Group - PO Box 828 Gosford 2250Hawkesbury Herpetological Society - PO Box 2 Whalan 2770Orana Herpetological Society - PO Box 809 Mudgee 2850Reptile and Amphibian Interest Group - PO Box 5013 East Lismore 2480.http://www.snakecatcher.com/

It is a bit hard to tell without photo,u do get tree snakes there but not likely to be that colour, more brown and white striped{ boiga irregularis}, ur snake is more likely to be a water python-{liasis mackloti} they are non venomous but can show aggressive behaviour when provoked, so be aware they do have a mouth full of sharp teeth.hope this helps..
