What is a good DVD or hard drive camcorder comparable to Panasonic PV-GS320?

I really like all the specs of the PV-GS320 except im unsure about it using tapes --those seem so... 1980's, hehheh. Not to mention I don't have a player for tapes so I'd have to buy one of those. Is there something comparable to this camera or, if you have this camera, is it worth getting it even though it uses tapes? (im still leaning towards getting it regardless)
