Cameras, phones, PDA's, etc. has a limit to how much addressable removable storage memory is allowed in the device, and this is usually determined by the device's firmware. You can sometimes check if there is a later firmware from the manufacturer where sometimes incorporate updates to allow you to goto larger sizes, you'd just have to check with the manufacturer.Looking at the panasonic website for that model suggests that only a maximum of 2GB can be used.To answer your question however, no, inserting a larger sized memory card into your camera will not ruin your camera because;a) memory cards only put out the same or less amount of power to thier host devices as is drawn from the host device.b) there are strict regulations to govern these principles in the design of a memory card standard, memory cards themselves are relatively low-voltage devices, the capacitors & resistors in the host device are usually larger in specification than the capacitors & resistors used memory cards to handle any surges though it's highly unlikely.Having said this, although manufacturers may say that their devices will only allow a certain storage limit, this is sometimes just because they simply didn't have time to test the unit with various cards/sizes before shipping, or higher capacity cards may have been created after the product was shipped. This was the case with the Nokia N95 phone where Nokia said the maximum storage the phone was able to handle was a 2GB SDHC card, though after it was shipped, a lot of users found that the Nokia could infact handle upto a 4GB SDHC card, some have even been successful with 6GB - though you should always test the full read/write capabilities yourself on the entire card before trusting it actually works.
