None of them can - the Panasonic Viera plasmas have far better motion resolution, deeper blacks and better color accuracy.Add to that they can now go 100,000 hours at maximum brightness with a 100% white signal before they hit 50% output and you're looking at a TV that you could watch 10 hours a day with a white signal for 30 years before it gets dim enough to bother your viewing experience. All the experts agree - plasma is where it's at.http://www.hometheatermag.com/lcds/208hdface/

LCD's are getting closer to plasma picture quality, but they will never get the deep black level that a plasma can provide.By the nature of the design, LCD's are back lit, allowing for light to interrupt a black pixel. (actually really dark grey)Not all plasmas look deep black, but most can outperform a LCD in this area.Sony XBR like another answerer mentioned, is one of the best along with Mitsubishi Diamond line and Samsung 7 series and up.

None,
Its a toss up between Contrast Ratio and Resolution, the Back light on a LCD create a brighter picture (Contrast) that will fade over time, a Plasma has a Higher Resolution and longer life span for its pixels. The key is a LCD starts to loose resolution quality currently around 37" and greater while a plasma will have consistant Resolution and brightness down to about 37" any smaller and the resolution is not longer possible. So size is your factor as well. If you are looking for the 37" range, either will be great, larger plasma, smaller LCD
