Each set varies, all are good brands. Personally before I purchased my 50" HD set I did a lot of research. I settled on the Samsung LCD with LED light engine versus standard bulb technology. The benefit of the LED and its long life as well as great picture sold me. I did not want to have to spend $300-$400 in 2-3 years to replace bulbs. My friends and neighbors always comment on the great picture, I am very pleased with my choice.Check out PC World and Cnet for professional reviews. I also use Amazon (bought my set there best price by far) for user ratings. You can get great feedback from others and see exactly what they had to say.Consumer reports is great for non baised opinions, if you don't subscribe check out the library for free copy.

samsung is better. the picture quality and sound is way better than a panasonic. Also samsung is better in price. check out the website for samsung and the warranty. they have a 1year parts and labor

All LCDs have a shorter life than a Plasma, a LED is a Light Emitting Diode, still has a shorted life than a 100,000 hour Panasonic Plasma. Samsung has a higher fail rate than Panasonic, in fact Panasonic has the lowest fail rate in the industry with over 50% of the market share (Basically the sell more than 50% of the plasmas on the market) The best way to choose is to go to a store that has all three, LG, Samsung and Panasonic and view them side by side. Panasonic's waranty is also better than the other two, 1 year parts and labor, 2 years parts on the panel. Plus a two day turn around on the repair
