Who is offering the waranty, if Panasonic is offering the Waranty then it is well worth the money, the Waranty includes the Concierge programs, with 2 day turn-around on most repairs, repairs that take longer will have give a loaner plasma until the unit is repaired. Anything electronic has potential to fail, and in most cases on a Plasma, the part that fails will cost more than $400 dollars, plus you would have to pay for labor.

Now if the waranty is thru the another company, look at the contract, most cases the waranty doesnt start at the end of manufactuers waranty but includes it, so a 3yr waranty is only two years after the Panasonic waranty, but still a good idea to have one.

not a bad idea for plasma as the bulbs do burn out, and they don't even work at certain altitudesbut yes , i'm part of the crowd that thinks plasma looks superior to lcdjust an fyi, 50 inch Lcd's and HD projectors are starting at $800 dollars on google shopping now

The life span of the "BULBs" in a "PLASMA" are 100,000 hours, 8 hours a day, will get you just over 34 years. LCDs loose resolution quality on sizes 37" or larger.

Yes. I repair flat-screens, mostly Vizio, HP, Samsung and Polaroid. They all regularly break, especially the plasmas (versus LCD). Get a warranty for as long as possible.
