Default Panasonic's Toughbook how good is IT?

I will be buying a new laptop and this Panasonic's Toughbook looks like the one. It will be used on the move in hot dusty conditions and stuffed into a rucksack or in the foot well of a car. It will be knocked about a bit. Is this my best choice for my money?

They certainly are very rugged, not that fast though. I haven't used any of the alternatives though so I cant really compare.

I you expect to give it a bit of a kicking then it will stand up to most anything you throw at it! Yes, the performance isn't up to the Sony's, Toshiba's and MacBooks of the world but then they wouldn't stand up to a bit of water, or a drop from a few feet up.

They are field tools, not really engineered for use in an office. The best accolade you could ask for is the Army use them for operations. They really are that solid, see sources below.

If you need a laptop that wont break they are well worth the asking price. Otherwise, get a shiney new Vaio or Toshiba.
