I would go with the SD1100IS. It's a powerful camera with lots of great features, but is also easy to use. They come in some nice colors as well.

Canon focuses their business on cameras and camcorders, while Panasonic and Sony manufactures a wide variety of products. While their products are good, I prefer buying from a company who are true experts in their field.
