Panasonic Lumix TZ5 or Fujifilm Finepix S1000FD?

Here's how I view the cameras:
TZ5: Relatively compact body, 10x zoom, wide angle, however little manual control
S1000FD: A more SLR type body, 12x zoom, 35mm wide, manual control, and from what I've read it has excellent color vibrancy, however is bigger and lacks an optical image stabilization
The main issue for me is that the TZ5 has no manual control, while the S1000FD does, but the S1000FD has no optical image stabilization, while the TZ5 does. Also, based on what I've read, the S1000FD should have a better macro mode....and I LOVE macro.
I already have a TZ5 which I'm able to return (I got it for around 200-230 dollars) and it takes great photos, but the more I learn about cameras the more I develop this near-obsessive craving for a manual mode, plus I'm getting one of those random, illogical sensations where I NEED to buy the S1000FD for the color, macro and manual features even though I know it's only seems good cause of the company and how it tries to advertise. Usually I'm able to ignore advertising emotions but sometimes I develop this insane crave.
This will be my first digital camera
