plasma degrades with time. A friend who recently researched plasma said they also can't be laid down - they have to stay upright.new plasma may have a better picture though.I'm not sure about viewing angles and such, but I would definitely go LCD over plasma. They've been making LCD displays for years and years. (your computer monitor for one) If there were serious issues, we'd know them by now.

Go LCD, longer life, and no burn in, plasma has gotten better on both, but still can't beat LCDs in those areas. The only true peak is a very slightly better image on the plasma

They are both great leaders of technology. It's which ever one sits right in your room. 42inch is massive. You'd need a big front room for that.

up to 32" LCD is supposed to be best, 37"+ plasma is much better (sharper picture) i have panasonic viera 37", excellent quality. As for "burn in" all good manufacturers state it's a thing of the past.
