It's not about how the display works, it's about decoding the signal, even an Lcd or plasma might not be dtv ready. Your tv might even be fine, the worst you'll actually need to get is probably a box of some kind . but by then you might want to by a thinner Tv anyways, what's wrong with saving a little space?

No, but you will need to purchase an Set Top Box which will act as a tuner to convert the signal to analog for your current TV.There are CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) televisions currently on sale which do come with digital tuners so that you won't have to upgrade to a high priced Plasma, LCD, or projection screen, should to still wish to replace your current set.Digital tuner equipped VCR's are on sale also.
