Philips dvd player suddenly not playing dvds?

I bought the dvd player a year and a half ago and it is suddenly not playing the dvds or skipping really bad. Its been making a funny sound while loading. Its model number DVP642 if anyone knows anything to help. I am so sick of buying things and them breaking so soon. What happened to quality workmanship where thinks last?

its probably burn out dvd players dont last too long ive went through 5 in 2 years and i only watch a dvd twice a week or less
