Philips is a good brand for flat panel TV's. Their LCD panels are made by a joint venture with LG. Sony is also a good brand but they tend to have poor contrast ratio and are extremely overpriced (because of the name). Some of the best brands in the market for LCD tv's are (in no order): Philips, Sharp, Samsung, LG, Sony. You should research all of those names. From my personal preference, I recommend Sharp or Samsung. Sharp pioneered Liquid Crystal and have one of the most advanced integrated manufacturing plants in the world. Samsung also make good panels. I prefer the clarity and quality of a Sharp AQUOS. I don't have any flat panel tv's but I am planning in buying one and I am going to stick to a Sharp AQUOS but of course that is my personal preference. Sony Bravia tv's are excellent but alot of customers tend to have problems at a short time of ownership. Now back to Philips, Philips also make good quality panels. Check out their sites.Philips:
