My Philips speakers aren't working on my computer...?

Alright the speakers work when i plug them into my iTouch and the headphones work when they are plugged into the computer.. it's plugged in right the mute isn't on. the speakers light is on....? the black cord is in the speakers and the green on in the computer... it use to work on the computer.. then we let some DUMB kid use them and now they don't work on the computer...? what should i do?

Look May be Setting in you Volume control is changed Try to fix it up By Clicking right Click on the system tray and SW syth Volume To highest Then it will work when ever you change the speaker this problem created
