its a DVDRW228 philips. its supposed to work like a dvd+-r/w and cd+-r/w burner. it only displays as a cd burner. in My Computer folder it just says DVD/CD RW Drive, supposed to be something like, DVD RW/CD RW, i think. i got the update for the driver at the philips website, it doesnt work either.what i mean is, it doesnt detect that its a dvd burner. i use neronero 8 ultimate

Burning functionality is usually determined by the burning software. What software are you using? The built in Windows burning doesn't do a very good job with DVD burning or rewriting. Try Nero or Roxio.
