Ive currently purchased a HDTV and are interested in Blu Ray. Problem is I purchased a Philips surround sound with a built in DVD player and dont want to throw it out. I could care less of the built in dvd player. All I want is the surround sound. Is it possible to run the Samsung Blu Ray player to the philips surround sound to take advantage of the surround? Also theres only one HDMI port on the surround sound unit and its being used for upscaling to my HDTV. Anybody know of anyway I could set this up?

You have 3 options, whatever the back of your Philips system has as an audio input. It can have stereo audio in (red & white), optical in, or digital coax in (sometimes called SPDIF). If it has either the optical in or the digital coax in, use that instead of the stereo audio because stereo audio is just that, stereo, not true 5.1 surround. Any Blu-Ray player will have all 3 of those outputs so you are good there. Then whatever input that you choose on your Philips system, that will be one of the auxilary inputs.
