Default PS3 Bluray movie displayed is grainy/blurry on Philips LCD HDTV?

I just bought a brand new Philips 32" LCD HDTV (32PFL5332D) today (black friday). I connected a monster cable hdmi from the ps3 & xbox 360 to the tv. Ps3 is enabled for 720p (same for xbox 360). Game output is awesome, but.....blu-ray movie such as italian job, pearl harbor, and underworld looks really grainy and pixelated. I downloaded some HD trailers via PS3, looked really good.Is my tv no good or is there some setting i need to adjust??I also connected a regular dvd player via composite, "crash" movie also still looked like crap like above.Any help would be much appreciated!

Hmmm, this question has stumped me. It sounds like you have the correct wire (hdmi) and are outputting at 720p. If the movie trailers via PS3 look fine, then I would assume the Blueray movies would look fine. I'm NOT convinced there is anything wrong with your equipment, tv, or wires.I have a question. Can you try playing a Blueray movie again and find the "info" or "display" button on the Phillips's TV remote? This button should display on the tv what resolution the tv is receiving. I'm curious if your PS3 is outputting standard def (480i) when playing a Blueray movie. Your TV should display that it is receiving 720p from your PS3.I still think there is some setting that isn't right on the PS3. Hmmm...

those movie is old, try newer one like spiderman3, rataourile. old movie don't shoot with hd camera or process in hd, is not as good to transfer from non hd to latest tech. also make you put noise cancel high in you tv that can help reduce some gray. also dvd isn't great except in few movie, you need to understand hdtv is mainly design for hd, non hd will not look good. also try get a hd antenna that can display hd local channel. try netflix or blockbuster rent blu-ray movie.
