I looked at the spec sheet online for this model. This unit is a DVD-player/VHS-recorder combo, with analog inputs and analog outputs (except for surround audio output), analog video recording, and NO TUNER.This unit will not be affected by the switch to all-digital broadcasting in February 2009, but not because it is "digital." It won't be affected because it has no tuner! You won't stop receiving broadcasts on the DVP3340V in 2009, but you don't receive broadcasts on it today, either.(I put digital in quotes, because it is only digital in the sense that all DVDs are "digital." It does have a digitally-encoded surround-sound output, so maybe they're referring to that, but otherwise all inputs/outputs on this unit are analog.)Someday you may want to replace this with a Blu-ray player (or even better, Blu-ray recorder) to get HDTV disc capability, once the prices come down and/or once you have a digital HDTV to play it on.
