Something is wrong with my Philips headphones?

okay this is what happened with my headphones. The left side seemed to give out first, but you could still hear the song. Then the otherside gave out the next day. It seemed to have gotten quieter on one side then the other. I think the bass gave out or something like that. Pleze help me. Also recomend some good headphones under $20 for me.
