How can i set custom ringtones to my samsung R400 metro PCS phone?

A friend of mine sent me a ringtone and it saves to the multimedia section on the phone. When i go there and locate the song it doesn't give me an option to set it as a voice call for people in my contact list. is it not suppose to have this feature or am i not using it right?
