Default Display/Color Issues W/Windows XP/Samsung Monitor?

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 940mw and am running Windows XP.I rebooted today and now my monitor is all screwed up.When it boots up everything looks fine, when it says "windows XP" and the little bar is flashing underneath it while it loads everything is fine. But when I get to actual desktop it is huge (text, arrow and icons) and the color is bland at best (no vibrant colors).I went into properties and normally I have it set at 2048x1536 resolution and color quality 32 bit.Now it is set at 640x480 and color quality is 4 bit. I have attempted to use the sliders to set them back at where I originally had them at but it won't let me. It just sets itself back at the lower crappy settings.I have even tried lower resolution and color quality but it always reverts back.I have rebooted several times but nothing works. The moitor looks fine on my other sources (TV, a/v for the DVD player and component for the Wii). What can I do to get my original settings back!

Try reinstalling the drivers for the monitor. If you have a disc that came with the monitor, insert that and follow the instructions. If not, go to the manafacturer website and go to the "support" section - they should have the latest uptodate drivers there.
