medical answer for you, when women present to the ER with abdominal pain, assume GYN problems until ruled out, that said, the human body is not a machine that you can just say, well it is here so it is x.given all the examples of answers you have, lets work through them and others.the appendix is a small organ attached to the large bowel. it can be inflamed from time to time and cause pain. but the duration of the pain is going to be unique to the person and the problem. it is ruled out by palpation and blood work. (or CT scan)passing a kidney stone. this is one of the most painful things a person can endure. if you had a kidney stone, you would probably already have gone in for treatment, (there really isn't a good one yet)other possibilities that are there, are insuffient intake of water. another is the creation of adhesion (sp) causing pain due to the movement of the bowel, large and small. one that was not noted, but is sometime there, is inflamation of the pancreas. (that will put you in the hospital too), so if you are not there already, don't worry about it.gall stones can also cause non-specific abdominal pain.there are more, but these are the most common i remember from working the in the OR.
