Default Sharp, twingy chest pain?

For the past few days I have been having twingy chest pain. Sometimes it's quite sharp but lasts no longer than a couple of seconds or so, then goes away. It also occurs in different places on my chest, sometimes nearer to my heart, then the upper chest, etc. I've been pretty stressed out lately, worrying about a few things, and have been a little tempermental. I was thinking, could it be a stress/anxiety problem, an indication of a heart problem, or maybe a respiratory problem? Any ideas of what the cause of this might be?I should add - if I am not calm, my blood pressure tends to go high, especially the diastolic reading. Don't know if that info helps. Thanks for the replies so far. I'm 22, so a little young to have heart problems? I do have a tendancy to put myself under quite a bit of stress, so this could be the route. I had an ECG a few months ago and it was clear then.

It could be the early signs of a panic attack. Or you could be developing pneumonia. I would talk to your doctor and tell them about your symptoms. good luck to you

You didn't say how old you are, but from your description, you are having panic attacks. They will cause your chest to tighten and you will feel pain. The next time it happens pay attention to your breathing. Most people when experiencing a panic attack will either hold their breath or will only have shallow breathing. Take a deep breath and see if the symptoms change. If you continue to experience chest pain, you will need to be evaluated by your physician. If the chest pain continues and worsens, get to an emergency room ASAP. There are medications for anxiety disorders and also for blood pressure control. Take care and good luck.Tex
