When I kneel down I get a really sharp pain in my knee, like I'm kneeling on glass?

it started on thursday when I was kneeling at work checking phones and cameras for discontinued lines, I stood up and had that horrible pain. I thought I'd knelt on a pin or something, but i checked and my knee looks fine, but it happens whenever I kneel or if i tap it and it's really painful.what is it!
