I work at a dentists office and when cleaning up I was poked by a sharp instrument and my hand blead just a little bit...There was no blood on the instrument but while cleaning his mouth he blead. If the tool was in his mouth and wasn't serilized before you got cut then this IS considered an exposure. There are regulations about these things. You need to report this to your boss and do an incident report and follow up according to your office policies.

Well that all depends on how deep your wound was and of course if the instrument was infected by any microbe. If it wasn't i deep wound i think it will be ok just watch it for the next few days and see if anything happens. Make sure to keep it clean!!!

To get aids, you would need to be stabbed by something that had just left the patent's mouth.

From that little amount of contact, I doubt you'd get aids. Get checked for tetanus or any other disease that can be transmitted through blood.
