I'm still very new to reading sheet music so I was wondering at the beginning of a piece of music I am trying to learn, there are 2 sharp symbols. It comes before the measure numbers. The 2 symbols are on different lines, and so I was wondering. Does this mean that all the notes are played in sharp? Because every single line has these sharp symbols and I don't think the whole song is played in in the black keys :S. the sharps mean that the notes marked sharp are sharp through the entire piece, unless marked natural or the key changes later. if there are 2 sharps marked at the beginning of a piece, they would be F and C according to the order of sharps. that means that F and C will be sharp in the music until the key changes or otherwise marked.

You need to learn the cycle of 5ths .no sharps=C Maj. 1#=G Maj. 2#= D Maj. and so on .> I have a chart . It looks like a big circle and shows every Key plus it's relative minor.. b's too like Bb= 1b Ithink
