Sharp abdominal pain at 5 weeks?

Hi Everyone,I am about 5.5weeks pregnant and i just started (today and a bit yesterday) getting this awful sharp pain in my right lower abdomen every once and a while. its very short but it is still scaring me none the less. Have any of you experienced this??? Should I be concerned? I tend to worry a lot so i am probably blowing it out of proportion but i am terrified i am ectopic or something. I havent had any bleeding or spotting at all. ThanksStacey

you should always be careful so i'd contact your doctor before it gets out of hand - if it does.

my doctor, when I was pregnant wiht my twins blamed it on round ligaments. is this your first? if so then your body is simply stretching and making room- if they get too severe or are a companied by bleeding go to the ER. You could also call your OB/GYN

I had awful pains starting at a couple of weeks. First it felt like cramps, but then it would wake me up in the middle of the night. It was pretty bad. Now I am about 8 weeks and all that has stopped. I still get a muscle pull feeling when I overstretch, but that's about it.But like everyone says.. check it out to make sure. It may be tubal.

I am 5 weeks and 3 days I experienced the same thing and also period cramps my mom said its normal and if it was an ectopic I would have notice by now b/c your fallopian tubes can't handle much.....she said its b/c your uterus is stretching a lot! She told me only to be worried when its too sharp that I can't move and I bleed other than that its normal! Also if it was an ectopic you would be dieing of pain its very very painful! Your fine I was the same way though every little twinge I ask my mom and she keeps telling me ITS NORMAL HAHA! She has had 3 kids and she you to be a OBGYN nurse

I know what you mean about being scared...i got sooo freaked out at about 8 weeks because i was having horrible sharp pains on my right side and i called the doctor and she had me do an ultrasound the next day and i was absolutely fine. Usually we are always ok but i think it eases our minds to call the doctors, they don't think you are crazy, and they get paid for this stuff! Good luck and God bless!!
